Puffiness of the face and headache
Home ?? Neurology ?? Headache ?? Severe headache, swelling of the face with venous encephalopathy
The disease is accompanied by a constant strongheadache, while there is swelling of the subcutaneous tissue of the face, the head (mainly in the area of the crown, forehead, mastoid process), under the eyebrows. The symptoms of meningism are noted in patients.
To confirm the diagnosis of venous encephalopathy, instrumental examination methods (rheoencephalopathy and reofileography, dopplerography in combination with echoencephalography, angiography, etc.) are used.
With venous disorders, therapy is performed, aimed at strengthening intracerebral venous outflow. In addition to treatment for the underlying disease that led to venous congestion, menthol is used 2 drops of 3% solution under the tongue, devancan, cavinton, clonidine (with hypertension), no-spp, intravenous papaverine (not recommended for venous encephalopathy due to severe cerebral stroke), euphyllin, trental, eskuzan and other preparations with venotonic effect.
According to some authors, it is necessary to limit the use of complamine or theonikol, which hinders venous outflow.
Assign antihypoxants (sodium oxybutyrate, pyracetam, aminalon, encephabol, etc.), analgesics, antihistamines, diuretics (furosemide, glycerin).
Practical doctors often have to meetwith patients with venous encephalopathy, which occurs after a respiratory illness. According to our data, a good effect is observed with the combined appointment of trental 1 tablet 3 times a day for 10-15 days and furosemide 1 tablet 1 time per day for 3-5 days. In most patients, the headache disappears on the 2-5th day after the start of treatment.
They also apply (taking into account the basicdiseases) physiotherapeutic treatment (galvanic collar, phonophoresis with troxevasin on the ophthalmic-posterior region, etc.), needle reflexotherapy, hyperbaric oxygenation (10 daily sessions at an oxygen pressure of 0.5-1 atm with an exposure of 30-40 minutes).
