Severe swelling of the leg after surgery
Surgeon-phlebologist-lymphologist, surgeon of the first category
Dear Elena Oleg, good evening! August 31, 2012 I was made an emergency combined phlebectomy of the left leg. At the moment, I'm in pain. The leg from the groin to the knee is doubled. The foot is burning strongly. I went to the doctor who operated on me, and he said that this was not his pathology. I take Warfarin 3 tablets (7.5 mg). She did ultrasound, and the doctor told me that there is a buildup of fluid in the cavities and therefore such a strong swelling. Can you please tell me what to do? What kind of examination is necessary and which specialist should I apply for? For 6 months I walk in a closed circle, and the condition worsens. Thank you in advance.

First of all, in this situation, it makes sense to exclude deep vein thrombosis. It is worth repeating duplex scanning of veins in a specialized phlebological center.
Why did you have an emergency surgery and why do you drink warfarin?
Edema itself can cause pain. This can be a pathology of the lymphatic reservoirs due to surgery. In this case, lymph drainage massage and foot bandage will help to reduce swelling.
But in any case, phlebologists should understand the situation, since it appeared after the operation.
Sincerely, Elena Belyanina.
