By the time the baby is born, the bark has the samemultilayered structure, as in adults. However, the width of the cortical layers and sublayers increases significantly with age. During the first years of life there is an intensive differentiation of cellular elements, typing of neurons, their sizes increase, dendritic and axon branches develop, the system of vertical connections in ensembles of neurons extends. By 5-6 years. the system of dendritic connections along the horizontal is complicated, the polymorphism of neurons, reflecting their specialization, increases. By 9-10 years. Pyramidal neurons reach their maximum size, the width of cellular groups increases. By 12-14 years. all types of interneurons reach a high level of differentiation, intra- and inter-ensemble horizontal connections become more complicated. In the phylogenetically newest areas of the cortex (frontal), the complication of the ensemble organization of the neuronal apparatus and inter-ensemble bonds can be traced to 18-20 years of age. The development of the neural apparatus, its ensemble organization and inter-ensemble relations ensures the formation, with age, of the systemic organization of higher nervous functions, psyche and behavioral responses.
